The Parents Leadership Community (PLC) of the Basser Center for BRCA connects parents and families affected by BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. The PLC provides education, support, and resources to help parents navigate conversations about hereditary cancer risk, support their adult children, and stay informed about advances in BRCA research and care.
Who is the Parents Leadership Community For?
The Parents Leadership Community is designed for parents and families navigating the impact of a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation. This includes parents whose children have a BRCA gene mutation, may be at increased hereditary cancer risk, or are considering genetic testing.
The PLC can help families:
- Learn more about BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations to understand hereditary cancer risk within a family
- Navigate conversations with your adult children about genetic testing and BRCA mutations
- Support adult children as they make healthcare decisions
- Learn about advances in BRCA-related cancer research and care
- Connect with resources and other families with similar experiences
