Moderated by Black & BRCA cofounder Erika Stallings, the panel includes Basser oncologist Payal Shah, MD, Houston Methodist Sugar Land/West genetic counselor Tiffiney G. Carter, MS, CGC, and Basser Young Leadership Council member Ashley Dedmon.

Basser Center Genetic Counselor Danielle McKenna, MS, LCGC, discusses the recommended age for genetic testing for BRCA1/2 mutations for both men and women.

Basser Center Executive Director, Susan Domchek, MD, discussed BRCA mutations and their potential impact on the lives of young women. Dr. Domchek covers what types of cancer may impact mutation carriers, as well as screening guidelines, preventative surgery, and topics like family planning.

Allison Werner-Lin, PhD, LCSW, EdM, discussed managing BRCA mutations. Dr. Werner-Lin is Assistant Professor at the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania where she conducts research addressing psychosocial aspects of genomic testing.
