The Seventh Annual Basser Center Scientific Symposium held on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8, featured Keynote speaker and Basser Global Prize awardee Maria Jasin, PhD, from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

This 2013 symposium on the Ashkenazi Jewish population's increased chances of carrying a BRCA mutation was moderated by Barbara Walters and featured a panel of breast and ovarian cancer experts, including Basser's Executive Director Susan Domchek, MD.

The Basser Center's annual Breakthroughs & Discoveries panel brought together experts in the field of BRCA gene mutations: moderator Basser Executive Director Susan Domchek, MD, and panelists Steven Narod, MD, FRCPC, FRSC, Basser's Roger Greenberg, MD, PhD, Lewis Cantley, PhD, and Mark Robson, MD.

The Basser Center and the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center presented a dynamic conversation about the experience of living with BRCA mutations and hereditary cancers. 

During the Sixth Annual Basser Center Scientific Symposium, the 2017 Basser Global Prize was presented to Ashok Venkitaraman, MBBS, PhD, the Ursula Zoellner Professor of Cancer Research and director of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Cancer Unit at the University of Cambridge.

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the Basser Center and Congregation Beth El presented a panel discussion about the experience of living with BRCA mutations and hereditary cancers.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, the Basser Center presented a panel with internationally renowned BRCA experts on the latest in BRCA-related clinical research and patient care. This event was held during the Basser Scientific Symposium and is geared toward the general public.

During the Seventh Annual Basser Center Scientific Symposium, the 2018 Global Prize was presented to Maria Jasin, PhD, by Basser Executive Director Susan Domchek, MD, Basser co-founder Mindy Gray, and Basser Global Prize co-founders Shari and Leonard Potter.
